Hollow Home
paper, plaster cast hands, hand-dyed fabric
installation dimensions 15 ft x 5 ft x 5 ft
2014
Hollow Home is an installation that speaks to our communal longing for the comfort and structure of the ideal childhood home. We reach back into our past, grasping for memories, and ask ourselves if this ideal was ever actually real or simply the pull of nostalgia.
The hands in this installation were cast from my mother’s hands, each hand is a letter in sign language, together they spell “home.”
Hollow Home was a temporary installation completed in association with Storefronts Seattle.
